The Founders understood that the right to own and bear laws is as fundamental and as essential to maintaining liberty as are the rights of free speech, a free press, freedomofreligionand the other protections against government encroachments on liberty delineated in the Bill of Rights.
Among those guaranteed rights and privileges are: freedomofreligion, freedomofspeech, freedomof the press, due process and equal protection under the law, the right to privacy and the right to keep and bear arms.
At the same time, the administration has also stressed that the government must embrace democratic principles with safeguards for free speech, a free pressandfreedomofreligion.
