When considering the food banks that would be a part of the energy efficiency program, the Walmart Foundation focused on the communities with the most food insecurity including Gulf Coast states.
Spread over nine equally-weighted categories, the scorecard rates colleges on factors like sustainable policies by administration, commitment to energy efficiency and conservation, food and recycling policies, campus-wide green building initiatives, student involvement, alternative transportation.
The government says that by 2020 it wants all schools to be "models of energy efficiency and renewable energy" and provide "healthy, local and sustainable food and drink produced or prepared on site".
