Eliza and Felicity were escorted into the ballroom. There they chatted with a few friends and guessed the identity of each costume they saw. There were ten Aphrodites, fifteen princesses, four shepherdess, twenty queens of various European periods, and a number of the men were in medieval costumes or dressed as Greek gods. Eliza shared a few dances with the gentlemen in the room. She first danced with Rich and then during the third dance, Aidan invited her to dance with him. On the sixth dance, this was all about exchanging partners; Eliza first danced with a knight, and then a Zeus. The gentlemen were polite and complimented on her costume. On the third exchange of partners, she came face to face with a darkly garbed gentleman. His skin was tanned and his eyes gleam a color of silvery grey. His black domino mask seemed to enhance the mysterious black costume. His head was covered by a black scarf. A matching black cape cascaded down his back. He was dressed as a highway man.
