The Durutti Column were among the first acts signed to Manchester's FactoryRecords label - which was also home to Joy Division, New Order and the Happy Mondays.
The old offices of FactoryRecords (the label behind Joy Division and the Happy Mondays) are now music venue Factory 251, part-owned by ex-Joy Division and New Order bassist Peter Hook.
The city is still sprinkled with musicians who came of age in the 1950s and 1960s, when New Orleans was a hit factory cranking out million-selling records by Fats Domino, Little Richard, Ray Charles and Huey (Piano) Smith ("Rockin' Pneumonia and the Boogie Woogie Flu").
