On its mobile iOS operating system, Apple has created a "closed garden" environment in which everything from apps to accessories has to be approved by Apple, as opposed to Google's more wide-open Android system.
Ms Abbott said in a speech on Tuesday that fast-developing technology and an "increasingly pornified British culture" has led to a "secret garden, strip-tease culture in British schools and society, whichhas been put beyond the control of British families".
