abstract:Shrinking cities are dense cities that have experienced notable population loss. Emigration (migration from a place) is a common reason for city shrinkage.
Now, with economic uncertainty remaining high and municipal budgets shrinking, some cities have ramped up their efforts with enormous tax deals to win or hold onto companies.
We do know for a fact that factors as diverse as climate change and aging populations mean that even as the global urban population continues to grow, some cities are shrinking.
