The safetyofruralsocietyand the socialprotection of the vulnerablegroupshave been depending on traditionalfamilies, ruralcommunities andsome relativerules.
As part of an effort to train a new cohort of local health workers and hence to improve the health delivery services for women and their families in ruralcommunities, Management Sciences for Health (MSH), the Centre for International Education at the University of Massachusetts, International Rescue Committee and seven local non-governmental organisations (NGOs) initiated the Learning for Life (LfL) programme.
"Many of our farmers and their families have played a vital role in making sure ruralcommunities in some of the worst affected areas of north and mid Wales have access to essential services, " Mr Davies added.
Today, farming families throughout the foothills of the Himalayas have better health, education and prospects than many other ruralcommunities in India.
