Theunionsaid that the activitycouldescalate to a nationalstrikeandaccusedRoyalMailof "sulking" sinceplans to part-privatise the group were shelved by Lord Mandelson, theBusinessSecretary.
The delivery service, part of the RoyalMailGroup, apologised for the failure in the system which allowed people using the mail tracing service access to the name, postcode and signature at various addresses.
She said that the association understood the pressures on RoyalMail, but she called for the group to extend its price freeze this winter to all pensioners, not just those on certain benefits.
