After four weeks on the picket lines, the Writers Guild of America has received a new proposal from the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers.
The board said its rejection of Mr Rothschild's proposal was unanimous, and if the motion were passed, the two serving board members that the British financier proposed to retain - Sir Graham Hearne and Steven Shapiro - have vowed to resign.
The proposal would immediately restrict road construction in one-fourth of the national forestland, and set in motion a procedure through which local forest officials would determine what activities are consistent with the values of an additional 11 million acres of forest.
