The result shows that although Mobile IP may be appropriate for macro mobility applications, its long handoff periods make it unsuitable for micro mobility support.
By handling the micro -mobility of mobile nodes locally, the scheme diminishes the handoff delay and accomplishes the smooth handoff among or within access subnets.
For reducing the delay and signaling overhead in MIP, some IP-based micro-mobility protocols supporting fast and reliable handoff were proposed.
