The investigations come as Europe's food industry has been engulfed by a meatprocessing and labelling scandal after multiple processed meatproducts labelled as beef were revealed to contain quantities of horsemeat.
In February, Dutch officials raided a meatprocessing plant suspected of mislabelling beef and ordered the withdrawal of suspicious products from supermarket shelves.
The Findus products were prepared by French food manufacturer Comigel using meat provided by Spanghero, a meat-processing company also based in France.
