Its characteristic features are the landforms shaped by the Ice Age: glacial ridges, pine and lichen-clad heaths, kettleholes and small ponds filled with crystal clear water.
The kettle ponds were formed more than 15, 000 years ago, when blocks of glacier ice melted, leaving massive holes, called kettles, that filled with fresh water.
