Incorporating wetlands into the landscape is becoming more and more important, especially in areas affected by either flood or draught. In areas prone to flood, large wetland systems can act as a sponge that will reduce a flood surge and impact. In drought inflicted areas, wetlands provide a method of water reuse, which reduces water demand, especially for potable water. Proper implementation of wetland systems into landscape design is forward-thinking, environmentally aware, and reduces human impacts on our limited natural resources.
