We had met on the bus one night. The 16A to the city via Ohio River Boulevard. Out of the corner of my eye I had caught her staring. I glanced back at her and she quickly looked away as if I hadn't noticed. My eyes moved back to the floor in front of me and I could feel hers on me. I looked up, and her eyes darted to the window as if this decaying urban sprawl was interesting to look at. This little game went on for what seemed like an eternity. Me, noticing her, noticing me. Like mirrors lined up along each side of the bus, reflections reflecting endlessly. It went on so long that when she finally approached me, I felt as if I already knew her. But then, I looked up and she stood gazing down upon me. I looked up at her, staring, hearing nothing but silence. Mute, all words had escaped me. Her figure became translucent, transparent, almost like a ghost. Or, more like an angel. Her gaze held me suspended in wonder. She spoke, but I didn't hear a word. My every sense rendered useless by her blinding radiance. Realizing I was probably drooling, I spoke, I'm sorry, were the only words that fell out of my mouth. May I sit, she asked, and from that moment on, we were inseperable. True love had found me.
