Leaders of the Atlanta Tea Party are challenging Southern Co. subsidiary GeorgiaPower over the monopoly's reluctance to increase its use of solar power, the ballooning costs of building a new nuclear power plant and even its legal right to monopoly status.
Among those utilities in the Southeast that school their workers at the Utility Technology Association: GeorgiaPower, Alabama Power and Mississippi Power, which are part of Southern Co. as well as Cobb EMC and the Tennessee Valley Authority.
