abstract:Foday Musa Suso (born in Sarre Hamadi Village, Wuli District, in the Upper River Division of eastern Gambia) is a musician and composer from the Gambia. He is a member of the Mandinka ethnic group, and is a griot.
He is a sensitive partner in duos (with guitarist Bill Frisell and kora master FodayMusaSuso, among others) and within collectives (he first recorded "Oneness" in 1995, with guitarist John Abercrombie and bassist Dave Holland, in the leaderless Gateway Trio).
