abstract:Clinton Rossiter (1917–1970) was a historian and political scientist who taught at Cornell University from 1947 until his suicide in 1970. He wrote The American Presidency along with 20 other books on American institutions, the United States Constitution, and history.
In 1956 ClintonRossiter, a political scientist, wrote that Americans wanted their president to make the country rich, to take the lead on domestic policy, to respond to floods, tornadoes and rail strikes, to act as the nation's moral spokesman and to lead the free world.
