abstract:Caspar David Friedrich (September 5, 1774 – May 7, 1840) was a 19th-century German Romantic landscape painter, generally considered the most important German artist of his generation. He is best known for his mid-period allegorical landscapes which typically feature contemplative figures silhouetted against night skies, morning mists, barren trees or Gothic ruins.
Swiss-born English painter Henry Fuseli leads the first wave, which includes Delacroix, CasparDavidFriedrich and Goya a generation inspired by Shakespeare, Goethe, Dante's "Inferno, " Milton's "Paradise Lost" and English Gothic novels.
Though it contains shots that mirror the paintings of the German romanticist, CasparDavidFriedrich, these are used to underpin the film's intense religious aura and are not typical of its general appearance.
