In fact, Santiago seems like a smaller Buenos Aires, with a European style embodied in structures such as the Museo Nacional de BellasArtes (National Museum of Fine Arts), housed within an elegant neoclassical building, and the Mercado Central (Central Market), with its filigreed steel framework imported from Britain.
From here it's a 1.2km stroll southwest to the Palacio de BellasArtes (Fine Arts Museum), as spectacular for its Art Deco design as it is for its murals.
With good reason, guidebooks extol the virtues of the museums in Mexico's capital, including the world-famous Palacio de BellasArtes (Fine Arts Museum) and the Museo Nacional de Antropologia (National Anthropology Museum).
