The surging vitality of the script allows the actors (Will Ferrell, Uma Thurman, and Roger Bart, among others) to find sure footing, and GaryBeach gives a standout performance as the drag-wearing musical director who eventually is called upon to star (his Judy Garland bit is priceless).
