By turning your talent into a business, not only do you get to beyourownboss, but you invite others to benefit from your passion and eventually will hopefully be able provide new jobs in your community as your venture grows.
In my research, I've also found that fewer than 20% of nascent business owners intend to introduce a new product or service, and a simple desire to beyourownboss is as frequent a motivation as a new business idea. (I'll leave the policy implications of subsidizing the nonpecuniary aspects of business ownership for another discussion.) Broad-based programs lump all of these very different businesses together.
