The embodiment of the invention discloses a system for monitoring multimedia contents, including a content acquiring module, for acquiring multimedia contents on multimedia related entities to be monitored; a finger print generating module, for calculating the content finger print data of the multimedia contents; a finger print storage module, for storing sample content finger print data; a finger print matching module, for matching the content finger print data and the sample content finger print data stored in the finger print storage module; and an execution module, for executing the prearranged operations according to the matching result of the finger print matching module. The embodiment of the invention also discloses a method and apparatus for monitoring multimedia contents. Adoption of the invention can achieve the goal of effectively monitoring multimedia contents on multimedia related entities.
