AlexeiAbrikosov, who now works at the Argonne National Laboratory, in Illinois, and Vitaly Ginzburg of the Lebedev Physical Institute, in Moscow, were responsible for discovering how type-II superconductors work (it is all down to the behaviour of their electrons).
