SwissscientistAlbert Hofmann took anunexpectedjourneyof the mind in April 1943 when he accidentally absorbed one of his chemical discoveries, lysergic acid diethylamide, through his fingertips.
As he worked in the Sandoz research laboratory in Basel in Switzerland on April 16th 1943, isolating and synthesising the unstable alkaloids of the ergot fungus, AlbertHofmann began to feel a slight lightheadedness.
