阀门井是地下管线及地下管道（如自来水、油、天然气管道等）的阀门为了在需要进行开启和关闭部分管网操作或者检修作业时方便，就设置类似小房间的一个坑（或井），将阀门等安装布置在这个坑里，便于定期检查、清洁和疏通管道，防止管道堵塞的枢纽。这个坑就叫阀门井。有阀门井必定有阀门，但有阀门不一定有阀门井。
