迦勒底人是古代生活在两河流域的居民。两河文明的中心大概在伊拉克首都巴格达一带，北部古称亚述，南部为巴比伦尼亚。而巴比伦尼亚北部叫阿卡德，南部为苏美尔。
他就离开迦勒底人之地住在哈兰。
耶和华如此说，你们不要自欺说迦勒底人必定离开我们，因为他们必不离开。
Thus saith the LORD; Deceive not yourselves, saying, The Chaldeans shall surely depart from us: for they shall not depart.
迦勒底人就拿住王，带他到在哈马地利比拉的巴比伦王那里。巴比伦王便审判他。
Then they took the king, and carried him up unto the king of Babylon to Riblah in the land of Hamath; where he gave judgment upon him.
