表现说（expression theory of art）是西方艺术起源理论之一，主张艺术起源于人的内在情感。德国赫尔德认为，一切美邻是“表现性的”，有的形式对观照者只有作为内在生命的表现时才是美的。显露出表现说的端倪。最早正式提出表现说的是法国维隆，他在《美学》（1873）中把艺术界定为情感的表现，认为艺术的价值全在于它表现情感的范围的广度和深度，这是艺术与科学的主要区别。
