螺柱焊机是指把金属螺柱或类似零件，经过瞬间加压和放电，将整个端面焊于工件上的焊机。靠焊枪中的弹簧压力将螺柱压入熔池，从而形成金属再结晶连接。电弧法螺柱焊作为熔化焊方法的一种，它的接头是在焊枪中弹簧压力条件下形成的，所以具有压力焊的特征，螺柱插入熔池后，不能马上断电，更不允许螺柱下落未插入熔池前断电。要求有一段带电顶锻时间，以保证接头能形成完整的再结晶过程。
