中非扎伊尔民族。主要居住在刚果河转弯处南部、开赛河和桑库鲁河北部的热带森林地区。属尼格罗人种班图类型。包括博萨卡人、埃孔达人、博莱人、克拉人以及特特拉库苏人等10多个支系。通用芒戈语，属尼日尔-科尔多凡语系尼日尔-刚果语族。有文字。多信万物有灵，盛行祖先崇拜和自然崇拜，迷信女巫和占卜；现有部分人信奉天主教。
