腭裂可单独发生，也可并发唇裂和牙槽突裂。腭裂不仅有软组织畸形，大部分还可伴有不同程度的骨组织缺损和畸形。由于颌骨生长发育障碍常导致面中部塌陷、牙合错乱。腭裂修复术目的是修复腭部的解剖形态；改善腭部的生理功能，重建良好的腭咽闭合，为正常的吸允、吞咽、语音、听力等生理功能的恢复创造条件。
