直播稻是一种原始的稻栽培方式。原始农业时期，人们采取刀耕、火耕，乃至象耕鸟耘的方式整地，然后撒上种子，直至收获10。这个过程中并没有移栽环节。最多只是将个别植株由稠密处移至稀疏处，进行补苗。这种原始的栽培方式一直保留下来，直到清代，乃至上世纪五十年代，海南黎族等少数民族都有直播稻的存在。
