电子期刊（Electronic Journal），也称为电子出版物、网上出版物。就广义而言，任何以电子形式存在的期刊皆可称为电子期刊，涵盖通过联机网络可检索到的期刊和以CD-ROM形式发行的期刊。现在电子期刊已经进入第四代，和电子杂志一样，以Html5技术为主要载体独立于网站存在。电子期刊是一种非常好的媒体表现形式，它兼具了平面与互联网两者的特点，且融入了图像，文字，声音、视频、游戏等相互动态结合来呈现给读者，此外，还有超链接、及时互动等网络元素，是一种很享受的阅读方式。
