《现代课程论》是由钟启泉在《现代课程论》（上海教育出版社1989年版）的基础上重新编写的。全书删去了原书中的第二部“课程实施的国际比较”(10一15章)，以及第一部中的第8、9章；增添了“课程改革与学校文化”作为第二部的内容；重新调整、充实了第一部前七章的内容。这样，本书分两大部分，共九章。
