活动课程亦称经验课程、儿童中心课程。是与学科课程对立的课程类型。它以儿童从事某种活动的兴趣和动机为中心组织课程。因此，活动课程也称动机论。活动课程的思想可以溯源到法国自然主义教育思想家卢梭。19世纪末20世纪初，美国的杜威和克伯屈发扬了这一思想，杜威的课程为“经验课程”或“儿童中心课程”。 其基本特征是：第一，主张一切学习都来自于经验，而学习就是经验的改造或改组；第二，主张学习必须和个人的特殊经验发生联系，教学必须从学习者已有的经验开始；第三，主张打破严格的学科界限，有步骤地扩充学习单元和组织教材，强调在活动中学习，而教师从中发挥协助作用。
