桥梁基础是桥梁结构物直接与地基接触的最下部分，是桥梁下部结构的重要组成部分。承受基础传来的荷载的部一部分地层则称为地基。地基与基础受到各种荷载后，其本身将产生应力和变形，为了保证桥梁的正常使用和安全，地基和基础必须具有足够的强度和稳定性，变形也应在容许范围之内。
