机动车道，是指公路、城市道路的车行道(道路两侧道牙之间或公路上铺装路面部分，专供车辆通行的)上自右侧第一条车辆分道线至中心线(无中心线的，以几何中心线为准)之间的车道，除特殊情况外，专供机动车行驶。
例如，一个机动车道可以被关闭用做轻轨，那样每小时就能搭载更多乘客。
