明朝西藏各地僧俗首领向中央王朝纳贡制度。明朝推行行都武卫的设置和各政教势力多封众建相结合的行政管理体制，把整个西藏纳入中央王朝统辖之下。为进一步强调分封所包含的政治隶属关系，明朝统治者在分封的同时，建立了与之配套的严格的朝贡制度。朝贡成为西藏地方与中央政府政治联系的特定形式。西藏地方向明朝中央朝贡始于洪武五年（1372）摄帝师喃加巴藏卜遣使入贡，终于崇祯三年（1630）乌思藏僧人三旦多只等朝贡，历时200余年，具有类型多样、次数频繁、规模庞大等特点。
