朔望月，又称“太阴月”。月球绕地球公转相对于太阳的平均周期。为月相盈亏的平均周期。以从朔到下一次朔或从望到下一次望的时间间隔为长度，平均为29.53059天。我国的先民们把月亮圆缺的一个周期称为一个“朔望月”，把完全见不到月亮的 一天称“朔日”，定为阴历的每月初一；把月亮最圆的一天称“望日”，为阴历的每月十五（或十六）。
