指纹法是在刑事侦査中，通过比较指尖的乳突与皮嵴来识别犯罪分子的一种方法。指纹不但可以从手指本身获得，也可以从嫌疑人所接触过的物体上获得。用指纹法识别时，大多是为了出入检査，要将指尖放在一台特殊的阅读器上，阅读系统根据读入的图形计算出一组数据，并将这些数据与存储参考图形相比较。
