张保皋（790-846），新罗（今韩国）人。少年时期张保皋喜欢舞枪弄棍，善水性，性格粗犷豪放。807年（唐宪宗元和二年）他与好友郑年入唐，同年9月参加了武宁军，因其武艺高强，英勇善战，屡建战功，于819年（元和十三年）擢迁至武宁军小将。824年，来到赤山浦，在赤山（今石岛湾）建立赤山法华院。
