常染色体指染色体组中除性染色体以外的染色体。人类的23对染色体中，有22对是常染色体，余下的一对是 X和X或Y染色体组成的性染色体。常染色体每对同源染色体的两个成员，在形态、大小上相同，性质相似，且在每一种生物的所 有个体及其所有的细胞内都稳定不变，但其数目和形态具有种系特征。
