寂天菩萨是古印度南方贤疆国的王太子，原名寂铠，父王名善铠。他从小信仰佛法，恭敬三宝，对自己的眷属和其他众生非常慈善，常给他们财施等。太子幼年即学识出众，谙达世间的各种学问、技艺。
寂天菩萨曾说：“如果习惯了某事，这世界就没有什么困难的。”
Shantideva has said that if you get accustomed to something, there is nothing in this world that is difficult.
