该期刊1999年起被SCI-E收录，自2009年起被SCI引文收录, 2016年影响因子为1.483，为当年亚洲气象类影响因子最高的期刊。现任主编为吕达仁院士、朱江研究员和Ming Xue教授。
1983年又创办了国内外发行的英文期刊《大气科学进展》（Advances in Atmospheric Sciences），组成了包括多名外籍专家在内的编委会。
