地壳运动（crustalmovement）是由于地球内部原因引起的组成地球物质的机械运动。地壳运动是由 内应力引起地壳结构改变、地壳内部物质变位的构造运动，它可以引起岩石圈的演变，促使大陆、洋底的增生和消亡；并形成海沟和山脉；同时还导致发生地震、火山爆发等。我国古代的学者朱熹在《朱子语类》中写到“尝见高山有螺蚌壳，或生石中，此石乃旧日之土，螺蚌即水中之物，下者变而为高，柔者却变而为刚。” 地壳运动依据不同的分类标准可以划分为不同的类型，不同类型的地壳运动形成原因不同。
