土壤饱和含水量（saturated moisture）是指在自然条件下，土壤孔隙全部充满水分时的含水量包括毛管孔隙和非毛管孔隙。它代表土壤最大容水能力。也就是土壤颗粒间所有孔隙都充满水时的含水量，亦称持水度。在沙质土壤中，饱和含水量在25～60%范围内。有机土如泥炭土或腐泥土的饱和含水量可达100%。
干旱锻炼能明显降低临界饱和亏和植株需水度，使植株含水量在相同的土壤水分条件下得到改善。
