国民经济总产值又称“社会总产品”。指一定时期内 (通常为一年) 农业、工业、建筑业、运输邮电业等物资生产部门的劳动者所生产的全部产品的总和。从实物形态看，社会总产品可分为生产资料和消费资料。从价值形态看，社会总产品可分为生产过程中消耗掉而转移到新产品中去的生产资料的价值和新创造的价值。后一部分即国民收入。
在加拿大的国民经济总产值中，外贸占30%，其中70%的外贸对象是美国。
