肾癌又称肾细胞癌，起源于肾小管上皮细胞，可发生于肾实质的任何部位，但以上、下级为多见，少数侵及全肾；左、右肾发病机会均等，双侧病变占1%~2%。 囊性肾癌的临床表现近似于肾癌，也可见肉眼血尿，腹部包块及疼痛，由于囊性肾癌通常有一个完整的囊壁，出现肉眼血尿的机会较少。 囊性肾癌按病理组织学类型分为四种：（1）固有的单囊性生长（2）固有的多囊性生长（3）囊肿坏死（4）起源于单纯性囊肿内壁上皮细胞。其中以多囊性生长者多见。细胞类型以透明细胞癌多见。
