《参考消息》由新华通讯社主办、参考消息报社编辑出版，于1931年11月7日在江西瑞金创刊，是国内发行量第一、世界排名第五的报纸，拥有日均340万份的发行量。1956年《参考消息》筹备改版，重新设计报头，最终从鲁迅手迹中搜集了这四个字，并且一直沿用至今。 《参考消息》为中国大陆仅有的能够合法直接刊载外电的报纸，每日精选世界各地的最新消息、评论，全方位、多视角报道国际国内新闻，为读者开启了看世界的窗口，开阔了视野。 2018年3月，获“2017年百强报纸”荣誉。
