光谱选择性是指纳米涂料对太阳光具有选择性吸收、透过或反射，且至少含有1种以上纳米材料，即通过特定材料对光线产生选择性作用。当光以一定入射角从低密度介质如空气照射到高密度固体表面时，一部分光以相同的角度被反射；当固体表面不平整时，则有一部分光被散射，即对光线形成选择性作用。
