低色素性贫血，是指血红素生成障碍，红细胞中所含的的血红蛋白含量低，故称为低色素，同时细胞体积小，所以称为小细胞性。这种贫血大多数由于缺铁引起，所以要消除病因，补充铁剂。最简单的方法就是用铁锅炒菜。
小细胞低色素性贫血最主要的原因是铁缺乏。
